Web Services - E-Commerce

The world of e-commerce opens the door for small and large businesses alike to take orders securely over the internet. Adding the ability to buy online has the potential to increase your sales to reach a global audience.

We have created many online store solutions for a wide range of products, using different methods of taking payment tailored to the needs of the client. These range from Now Buttons for one off purchases to full shopping cart systems for a larger range of products.

One of the most important elements of setting up an e-commerce ordering system is to build it so that it gains the trust of the visitor. Your potential customer has to know that if they order from your web site, their personal and credit card details are going to be 100% safe and secure. Purchasing from your site should also be made as simple as possible, if it is not you will lose customers.

We have helped many businesses set up their secure online ordering systems, integrating them seemlessly into their existing web sites or with development of new sites built around online stores. If you feel your business would benefit from taking orders over the Internet, talk to us. With our experience and expertise we can help find the right solution for you.

Buy Now Buttons
The simplest way to integrate online purchases is with "buy now" buttons. These link straight to a payment gateway such as PayPal which processes the purchase on your behalf. Ideal for one off payments on sites that contain one or two products. This method does not allow for more products to be purchased within the same transaction. An example can be seen at the Hastings Map page of 1066online.com
Prices: from £24.50 per product

Perl Script Shopping Basket
An example of what can be achieved with a Perl shopping cart script can be seen at the Water Treatment Shop on poolguide.co.uk - this is a more time consuming way to construct an e-commerce system but ensures maximum search engine visibility. The initial script purchase price is very small compared to the database approach detailed below and the html product pages allow for much greater design possibilities and integration with existing sites.
Prices: from £400.00

Database Driven Shopping Basket
Pages are created dynamically from the information in a product database stored on your web server. The user quieries the product database and the results are posted to the web page. This method allows for quicker creation of your initial product pages but has a much higher initial script purchase price and does not allow any search engine visibility.
Prices: from £1200.00

Which method is for you?
We would generally advise that the Perl Script method is best due to it's design flexability and search engine friendliness, however if you intend showing hundreds of products then a database will be more practical and less time consuming to set up. If you only have a few products then the "buy now" buttons is are obvious choice.
